TheĀ Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD) is the Awarding Body (via Edexcel) for National Health Service (NHS) Ambulance Services throughout the United Kingdom. The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care at theĀ Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh maintains standards in pre-hospital medical care for doctors, emergency service personnel and nurses.

Course Contents:

  • The Pre-Hospital Environment.
  • Patient Assessment.
  • Respiration & Airway Management.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Defibrillation.
  • Circulation & Shock.
  • Medical Related Emergencies.
  • Trauma Related Emergencies.

Course Duration
One-day.

Assessment and Certification
All persons passing the course practical and written assessments will receive an (IHCD) Basic Certificate valid for 3 years.
